Since 2011, Dr Okker van Batenburg is Operations Director of EuroBioForum, an international platform for European life sciences funders (public and private) and performers in the field of personalised medicine, commissioned by the European Commission. Okker van Batenburg combines his technical background and industry experience with a thorough knowledge of public service organisations, national as well as international. His main expertise is in the areas of project and programme management, organisational development, strategy/business planning and innovation policy. As interim manager he often has been responsible for politically sensitive assignments, commissioned by the government. For more than 25 years, van Batenburg has been involved in EUREKA, mainly in project assessments, evaluations, impact studies and strategic reviews, at national as well as European level. He has set up and coordinated ERA-NET Plant Genomics (2004-2008). He was also a member of the PC-expert group, existing of the Dutch ministerial representatives in the Programme Committees for Health and Food to prepare for the respective Work Programmes. He is evaluator of Eurostars projects (EUREKA/EU, Brussels) and member of the scientific advisory board of MedSciences Capital.
