Dr Ana Mingorance is currently the Scientific Director 
of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation in Europe, a 
patient-run non-profit organization dedicated to 
finding better treatments, diagnostics and ultimately 
a cure for genetic childhood epilepsies. After 
pursuing her bachelor studies in Cell Biology at the
 Universidad de La Laguna, she obtained her PhD 
in Neuroscience, with a thesis focused on brain
 development. Since then, she has been working in 
neuroscience drug discovery in academia, pharma and the non-profit world. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia (2006-2009), and then lab head and discovery project leader at UCB (2009- 2013), a global biopharmaceutical company, helping projects progress through the initial stages of their development.

She joined the Dravet Syndrome Foundation EU in March 2012 and is now the Scientific Director of the foundation. She is also a visiting researcher at the University of Reading and owns a company that offers consulting services to universities, pharma/biotech companies and non-profit organizations in drug discovery research, partnering and strategy.
